Gearing Up For The Games
I still like the Olympic Games. Sure they’re commercialized, over hyped, politicized and many other things, but I think at the heart its still about the sports. What’s also nice is the games give me a chance to watch sports I only care about once every 4 years. Track and field is pretty darn nifty, but only so often. Same thing with swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, and even rhythmic gymnastics.
Anyway- here’s a brief primer of my take.
- Tyson Gay’s last name is “Gay.” Get the jokes out now because they’re hardly funny as it is, let alone ad nausium.
- We will all become sick of Michael Phelps advertisements. None the less it would be very cool to see him win eight golds.
- USA Men’s Basketball will once again be very fun to watch, USA Women’s Basketball will once again not.
- All athletes from Australia are inhumanly good-looking. Watch the opening ceremonies and you’ll see what I mean.
- The American’s are fielding a very good cycling team (oh, like you didn’t know I was going to throw that in).
- Synchronized diving is oddly intriguing.
…and last but not least, as I say every four years… Women’s beach volleyball uniforms are necessary-
VERY necessary.
