SEVEN YEARS !!!!????
I usually regard “Mama’s Family” as the worst show to ever air on television (running a close second by the way would be “Small Wonder”) and was surprised to find out that not only did it actually run for seven freaking years, but was nominated for EIGHT Emmys.
Was television between 1983-1990 so crappy that they just had to nominate anything to make a full ballot?
Good Lord!!
Sorry, but I’m really passionate about how much I hate that program.

In college, on Sunday nights at about midnight or 1:00 am at The Cloud, Corey and I witnessed (more than once) a show that was SO bad, neither of us to this day is convinced it actually aired or was real. It was called "Wild West Showdown" and was a game show set in the old west, kind of like American Gladiators. They had a character called Kid Kidd and a dusty guy that would “narrate” the competitions. Of course, we would be hammered watching it, but it was greatness.

My friend Jann's partner LOVES that show. His DVR is filled with it. I am just flabbergasted. Here are a couple of gay guys who live in a huge beautiful home, decorated tastefully with Italianate reproductions... and on their plasma flat panel TV is a rerun of Mama's Family.
There's no accounting for taste, I suppose.
